Is turf dangerous without shockpads for a kids playground?

Most of playground has requirements for fall ratings, this is especially true for commercial/public playgrounds. In order to achieve certain level of fall ratings, a lawn pad must be used to achieve it. For an example, a 1-/14” lawn pads are required to be installed underneath the artificial grass to achieve a 5’ fall rating, and 2-/14” thick lawn pads will be needed to get a 8’ fall rating. There is not specific requirements for residential playgrounds, but if you have a slide or playground setting on the grass surface, we will always recommend to use lawn pads along with your turf installations.
