Artificial grass thatch is curled fibers tufted together with the straight fibers onto the primary backing, it is not added on separately. The purposes of thatch are to help artificial turf straight blades stand up better and also provide more natural look to the turf given the fact of most of the turf thatching has brownish colors in it.
