Great question. One of the goals of artificial grass is to look as realistic and natural as possible. One of the ways we accomplish this is by combining synthetic grass blades with thatching. Thatch is a shorter, brown and green colored material that sits just underneath the grass blades providing additional comfort and creating an authentic look of naturally occurring dying grass.
