Just wanted to share a solid experience with a local deck company in Illinois

  • Not usually the type to post about contractors, but credit where it’s due. After years of dealing with half-finished projects and crews that disappear halfway through, I finally found a team that actually does what they say. Ended up working with a company out of Glencoe that specializes in decks, this one: https://myroyaldeck.com/service-areas-illinois/deck-builders-glencoe/. They were clear about pricing from day one, handled all the permits, and didn’t vanish when the weather got weird (which, let’s be honest, happens every other week here). What stood out most was how much care they put into the design — it wasn’t just another rectangle of wood slapped together, it actually fits the space and looks like part of the house. Not saying they’re the only good builders out there, but after a few rough experiences, this was the first time I didn’t end a project wishing I’d done it myself. If anyone around Illinois is looking to redo or build a deck, they’re at least worth checking out.

  • I had a similar search, and finding a crew that handles permits and keeps the design tied to the house made a huge difference. Consistent communication through bad weather is priceless.

  • Love hearing about crews that actually show up and do what they promise. I had a similar breath-of-fresh-air moment with a service I used for deck repair Tacoma, and it reminded me how much smoother things go when the team respects your time and plans. Good contractors who think about design instead of slapping together a box make the whole project feel like it was worth the wait.
