If I decide to install the lawn series myself, can I use nails that are shorter than 6"? Will it not hold the turf as well?

Yes you can use nails as short as 4” but not anything shorter. Since sub base needs to be built for artificial grass which consists of drain rocks and decomposed granite or similar, your nails will be super tight once being driven into such base, therefore, we would rather recommend the longer the nail the better. From time to time, installers do choose a bit short nails depending on the sub base conditions, but again, you shouldn’t use anything shorter than 4”.
