How often do vending machines need to be reset?

I’ve recently started looking after a vending machine and had a couple of situations where the screen froze and the card reader stopped responding. A simple power cycle fixed it both times, but I’m wondering if that’s actually a normal troubleshooting step or if I should be looking for an underlying problem.
