  • When setting up a yoga studio in a space with large panoramic windows, we found that during daytime workouts, the sun was blinding and causing the floor to get very hot. We don’t want to install regular blinds, as they would spoil the aesthetics and the beautiful view of the park. Could you tell us whether protective coatings can actually significantly lower the surface temperature of the floor and eliminate harsh glare? We’re also curious to know how many years such protection typically lasts under heavy use and with frequent window cleaning?

  • This is the best solution for sports areas, because fabric collects dust, and glare really gets in the way of training. Ceramic or metallized coatings block up to 80% of infrared heat, so the floor will no longer get as hot as a radiator. I once compared durability and light transmission ratings through a window film supplier, since their specifications clearly list the testing laboratories and warranty terms for wear resistance, which is very helpful during the planning process. High-quality material is resistant to household chemicals and retains its appearance for years. Do your windows face south or east?
