Hi all,
Here's my predicament... I don't like splitting labour and materials for jobs since that always starts an interrogation from the customer that I don't need. What I've been doing instead is listing the sections of a job and adding a price for each part of the job. For example a recent one was deconstruction, painting, flooring, cabinets, trim. Gave a price for deconstruction, one for painting, for flooring, etc. Still itemized but in a different way. This works great cause it gets the message across about the price without showing all the unnecessary details. The problem I have is when I'm adding up my totals for the job, total materials and total labour, and breaking it down into the sections of the job. It's a lot to keep track of and I've ended up with different numbers than my actual totals based on my hours and what i spent on a job a couple times. Any suggestions on how to make a system like this work in a way that is easier to keep track of the numbers and make sure it all ends up the same? Or alternatively let me know if I'm just completely off my rocker with how I'm doing this. I'm six months in to owning a business so some constructive criticism is always appreciated as well.
Thanks y'all
