Anyone else caught in that awkward gap between leases?
My last tenancy ended on the 1st, and my new place wasn't ready until the 28th. Nearly a month of limbo with a full flat's worth of furniture and boxes. Not fun.
I ended up splitting things between a friend's garage (not ideal, his car suffered) and a small unit I found fairly quickly. Before I booked anything I was browsing around for options and came across https://storagedubai.top/ which had decent pricing for short monthly terms. That flexibility mattered a lot because I genuinely didn't know if my new landlord would push the handover date again.
A few things I learned the hard way:
- Climate control is not optional in summer. Anything with wood or electronics will warp or corrode fast.
- Check if the facility charges a full extra month if you go even one day over.
- Get the unit size slightly bigger than you think you need. Packing under pressure is never neat.
I also found this Dubizzle listing helpful when I was comparing storage options alongside short-term furnished rentals, just to weigh up whether temporary accommodation might actually work out cheaper.
Anyway, if anyone is in the same situation right now, plan for at least two extra weeks of buffer. Handovers in Dubai almost never go to schedule.
