Recommendations for label printers?

  • I would like to print info labels for spools, and the 40x30mm labels

So I ordered a Niimbot B21 from Amazon (yes, I know, RFID DRM) and… oh my goodness, it is awful. I mean, the hardware is fine, I guess. It’s the apps. The iPhone apps are shambolic disasters, and it doesn’t work with a Mac via USB or Bluetooth. Nor do I want to buy a Windows machine for this little thing, that’s ridiculous beyond reason. It’s going right back to Amazon.

Do you use a label printer for this kind of thing? What do you use? Would you recommend it?

    Thanks for any ideas!

  • I know this thread is a bit old, but I've been using the Brother QL-800 for similar label sizes, and it's been great. It works smoothly with Macs, and the software is pretty user-friendly. Maybe give it a look if you haven't found a replacement yet. Anyone else has had good experiences with other printers?

  • I had connectivity issues too, so I switched to using https://labelbasic.ca/software/seagull-scientific/bartender-basic-software/ with the BarTender software trial. It offers flexible designs and optimizes print speeds, making it much easier to create my spool labels. Once the trial was over, I found the paid plans reasonable for what they offer. It's definitely worth exploring, especially since you can use it across different systems.
