Moving to Alaska

I'm very excited about my upcoming move but am concerned if I should bring my diesel truck or trade it in for a gasoline engine. I know that I will need to by a block heater, and oil pan heater and good snow tires, change out the oil and coolant as a minimum. I'm mostly concerned about the potential cold weather affects on the engine and gelling of the fuel. Any guidance and advice is very much appreciated.

Where in Alaska? What area are you moving from? All of Alaska isn't a frozen wasteland in the winter so without knowing where you're going it's hard to give advice.

A block heater, oil pan heater, winter diesel, and good snow tires go a long way up there, and swapping fluids early never hurts

If your Colorado’s in good shape, I’d keep it and just outfit it for the cold
