I've been living with this annoying front end clunk for months on my 2013 BMW 528i, mostly when going over speed bumps or potholes, and recently I've noticed the steering feels less precise too, like the car wanders a bit on the highway. A quick inspection by a tyre shop showed that the front lower control arm bushings are cracked and probably shot, and they said the ball joints might have play as well. They quoted me a huge price for OEM arms but said aftermarket options are cheaper. I've been looking for https://bmw-garage.ae/lower-control-arm-replacement/ that can either replace just the bushings if the arms are still good, or source quality replacement arms without charging dealership prices. Has anyone here replaced just the bushings on a BMW and had it last, or is it worth spending extra for complete arms? Also wondering if a bad control arm could cause the clunk AND the wandering feeling or if I should be looking at tie rods too. Car has 150k km so probably all of its original suspension is tired at this point. Any advice appreciated before I spend a small fortune.
