  • I'm meeting up with one of my clients tomorrow to try and help them get strong monthly traffic like they used to.

Long story short. So I built this customer's website during lockdown 2020, and showed him how to encourage his clients to write 5-star Google reviews - he is an excellent electrician, so he is just about to hit 100 Google reviews, and he has always had strong traffic and business as a result.

Recently, he was interested in paying for some SEO - so I put him in contact with I guy that I send my clients to for google campaigns.... That did give him a bit more traffic but was very expensive, so now he has gone back to organic... and I am meeting up with him tomorrow morning, and I will reconnect google console tomorrow as it's no longer connected - I think I had to add my SEO guy in and tomorrow when I am with my client I can contect it again (as I dont have his password).

HOWEVER - the biggest problem is from a national website that aims to get all Tradies and charges through the roof. - its called Hi Pages dot com

They have managed to bury my client's own website by a new loophole.

I have made some progress, but basically they managed to list his business name, but just put a space between the first two letters, and it then directs traffic to his pages - so visits have of course dropped off. At the time, I just built him a very basic website as he didn't have a huge budget (it needs a big refresh now).

    his website is jtpowerelectrical

A few weeks ago - hi pages somehow had (not even sponsored) but it was showing J T Power electrical dot com - and this was on position one on google - notice the space between J and T - being the only clue I am working with.

Then listed 2nd and 3rd place - are a quick Facebook business page and an Instagram page which I set up quickly for a couple of backlinks.

Yes - I know I need more backlinks and blogs, etc. - but in the meantime, I just wondered if anyone had come across this or has any suggestions on what to do. Hi Pages has been contacted etc -

I will try and put some screenshots below - if anyone has the lowdown on a solution, I would love to hear your advice, brains trust. Thank you in advance!

  • Building good SEO for your client is going to be your biggest asset. Anything that boosts EEAT and local brand positioning. Google will favor a local company website over a scammy site if it's super clear that it's locally based, has great reviews, can be trusted etc.

  • I’ve run into competitors pulling weird stunts like that, and tightening up local signals usually helped me. I focused on cleaning up citations, pushing fresh reviews, and making sure the service pages answered specific local queries. I’ve also picked up a few clever ideas from Gerrid Smith https://www.amazon.com/Orthopedic-Surgeon-SEO-Dominate-Platform-ebook/dp/B0CX35NKVG/ especially around boosting trust signals and refining content so it’s harder for bigger companies to drown it out.
