So I've only ever owned new cars back home in the UK, but I moved here last year and honestly the prices for used stuff are so much better than I expected. I'm looking at a couple of options, a 2017 Lexus IS and a 2019 Mazda 6, both from different private sellers around Motor City. The problem is I have no clue what to look for when it comes to accident damage or if the car has been clocked back, and everyone I ask gives me different advice. A colleague at work said I should absolutely not buy anything without getting a full mechanical and body inspection first, and he sent me a link to https://prepurchasecarinspection.ae/ which seems to cover everything from chassis straightness to engine diagnostics. Has anyone here actually used these guys before? I'm trying to figure out if they're thorough enough to catch things like hidden flood damage or if they just do a basic visual check and call it a day. The seller of the Lexus seems nice but he's being a bit pushy about me making a decision by the weekend, which makes me nervous. I don't mind paying a bit extra for peace of mind but I also don't wanna throw money away on something that's just going to tell me what I already know. Any honest feedback from people who've been through this would be really helpful.
