  • We finally cut the cord and cancelled our satellite TV package. The dish is gone but the J-mount on the roof remains with intact coax running into the house. Has anyone successfully repurposed this hardware for a fixed-wireless or LTE antenna? I would rather not pay a roofer to patch holes if the mount can serve new gear.

  • We reused our satellite wall plate as a pass-through for an outdoor WiFi bridge feeding internet to our detached garage workshop. The old RG-6 coax actually handled the signal fine for that short run, so we avoided any new drilling through the exterior wall entirely. My neighbor copied the idea for his barn.

  • When my parents ditched their decade-old satellite package, they wanted rural internet without new roof work. I researched mounting options and read various homeowner experiences including directv https://directv.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html while looking into legacy hardware removal. We eventually fitted a directional LTE panel to the existing mast and ran fresh Cat6 alongside the old coax. My father still grumbles about the monthly savings from dropping premium channels, yet he admits the repurposed mount keeps his weather app loading faster than the old dish ever loaded program guides. The setup has survived two Midwest thunderstorms without issue.
