Are mobile tyre fitters as good as a workshop based one?

  • I've never used a mobile tyre fitter, but in the near future I will need some tyres doing and I reckon this will be a more convenient option.

Taking the skill and work ethic of the technician out of the equation, is the equipment in a mobile rig going to be able to do as good a job as the equipment in a workshop based tyre fitter? I genuinely don't know if the portable equipment in a van will be able to balance a wheel as well as something anchored to a concrete slab, for instance.

  • Have used mobile tyre fitters a few times, most recent was last week. Absolutely fine, in fact the machines in the van seem to be in better condition than the ones I often see in fixed tyre places.

  • I’ve had good workshop experiences, but the game changer for me was using mobile tyre fitting West Yorkshire after a blowout on the driveway. The fitter turned up fast, had all the kit, checked my alignment and battery while he was at it, and I didn’t have to limp the car anywhere. For straightforward tyre work, the mix of speed and convenience has been spot on for me.
