  • Hi all, we are planning on moving my father-in-law down from country VIC to be closer to us here in Melbourne. We’re looking at the Manningham/Donvale area specifically. It’s a big move for him, so we want to make sure we find an aged care facility that provides a really high standard of care but also respects his independence as much as possible. Does anyone have any experience with the facilities in this part of town? We’re specifically looking for somewhere that is well-managed and has a good reputation among locals. Any leads would be greatly appreciated as we want this move to be as smooth as possible for him.

  • Welcome to the area! Manningham is a great spot for seniors because it’s so leafy and quiet. When we were looking for my uncle, we did a lot of research into local providers and Donvale Gardens https://donvalegardens.com.au/ kept coming up as a solid option. They offer a range of care levels, so it’s good if his needs change over time. The facility itself is very well presented and they seem to focus quite a bit on maintaining a high quality of life for the residents. It’s located in a very peaceful pocket of Donvale, which might be a nice middle ground for someone moving from the country who isn't used to the hustle and bustle of suburban Melbourne. Good luck with the move!
