Is buying a deep freezer cost effective?

I’m debating buying a deep freezer for my basement. I have a standup side-by-side fridge freezer combo. My freezer is small. The door doesn’t open fully because it backs into a wall. Generally annoying! It does fill up quickly, and I have to limit the things I buy to put in there. I’d like to be able to stock up on frozen foods that are on sale, But I am a small family. It’s just me and two kids. I’m wondering if the extra energy cost from having a deep freezer would outweigh the savings. What are your thoughts?
