  • Hey guys, I’ve been trying to fix a habit I think a lot of people have — constantly opening social media during small breaks and ending up scrolling for way longer than planned. I realized it doesn’t really help me relax, it just kind of drains my attention without giving anything back. So I started looking for alternatives, ideally something interactive but still lightweight. I don’t want anything competitive, complicated, or time-consuming. Just a simple browser-based activity that I can open for a few minutes, enjoy, and then close without feeling stuck. Something like an arcade-style distraction that still feels fun and active. Has anyone managed to replace scrolling with something like that?

  • Yeah, I actually went through that exact transition not long ago. I noticed that even short social media breaks often turn into 30–40 minutes without me realizing it, so I started replacing that habit with quick, simple games instead. The key for me was finding something that doesn’t have endless feeds or progression systems. One of the things I’ve been using is rooftoprun.net which is a very straightforward browser runner game. It loads instantly and you can start playing right away, no login or setup needed. What I like about it is that it keeps your attention engaged in a much more active way — you’re reacting, timing jumps, and trying to survive longer each run, but at the same time it doesn’t trap you into long sessions. You can literally play for a couple of minutes and stop whenever you want, which makes it ideal for replacing scrolling habits. Over time it actually helped me reduce the urge to open social media during breaks because I had something more “interactive” but still light and controlled.

  • Thanks a lot, I think this is exactly what I need to break the scrolling habit.
