  • Couple of years back we bought this house just outside Nottingham, proper lovely place with loads of space, big terrace and the lawn's been kept up nicely by the previous owners. Thing is, we've barely used the terrace at all since moving in because there's absolutely nothing on it. Just empty space staring back at me every time I look out the window. I keep thinking how brilliant it would be to step out in the morning with a cuppa, settle into a comfy chair and just sit there breathing in the fresh air for a bit. Sounds dead simple but I can't do it without any furniture. Been wanting to get some decent garden chairs or armchairs, the kind you can sit in for hours without your back giving out while you're lost in thought. Where should I be looking for options that I can leave outside year-round without worrying about them falling apart when it pisses down or the sun bleaches them to death?

  • The terrace sitting there empty is just wasted potential, you could be out there every morning instead of stuck indoors. Stay away from wooden stuff unless you fancy treating it with oil every few months, and metal gets scorching hot in summer or freezing cold when it's nippy. Rattan looks alright but the cheap versions crack and fade faster than you'd think. Honestly, a rocking chair would be absolutely mint for what you're after. Proper relaxing sitting there gently rocking back and forth while you watch the birds and let your mind wander, way better than a static seat.

  • Having nowhere comfortable to sit outside when you've got all that space is just daft really. You want furniture that'll handle British weather without turning into a soggy mess or needing you to fuss over it constantly. You can check out garden chairs, sofas, armchairs and all that here https://rengard.co.uk/product-category/garden-outdoor-chairs/ . They've got pieces made from materials that cope with rain and sun without rotting or fading. Wide selection of different styles and sizes, so you can pick whatever fits your terrace best and actually start using it for those morning tea sessions instead of staring at empty paving slabs.
