  • Was wondering when I should plant my autos in my tempered glass greenhouse (22m² ACD with automatic skylight openers) so this year I perform some kind of experiment. Was never able to find advices on hows to run your autos in soil in greenhouse. When I say soil, I mean, directly into the soil and not inside a pot. I wonder how many autos I need to plant, depending on when I plant them, to fill out the space/harvest enough.

I'm looking for a rule of thumb here. eg, in march, I can plant X seeds at Y density, for Z harvest, in arpil X seeds at Y density for Z harvest etc...

    The setup:
22m² tempered glass greenhouse at latitude 48° in which a full 4m² is used for cannabis (and kyoto scallions, and salad, and basil, and cilantro etc...)
60cm wide veggie cases with varying lenghts and height. the tallest ones (40cm tall) are all done in the Hügelkultur way (rottent wood, feces, green veggies scraps, top soil). Everything coming from my garden except some top soil bags.
No humidity or temperature control (other than the skylight openers that open at about 27°C)
Automatic watering, once a day (45L of rain water or tap water for the whole greenhouse wich has tomatoes, strawberries and cannabis plants, about a third of this water goes to cannabis plants so ~15L/day - less on unsunny days.

Temp: ranging from 9°C to 49°C
Humidity: ranging from 80 to 30%
Distance to light: 1 astronomical unit
Light power and intensity: 386 billion petta watts @ 100.000 lumens (the SUN)
    40cm Fan sweeping on stand

Pests: rodent, aphids, mealy bugs (lately)
Pest control: wire for rodent, dark soap with water (2 table spoon of soft dark soap per liter of watter, applied once every 2 weeks) for aphids and mealy bugs

    The strains:
LSD auto: failed to germinate, twice! (sad, it's my all time favorite strain)
GMO autos: had some losses but 11 pulled through
    Critical Kush femzd x 4

    Nutrients: Hügelkultur
    homemade compost
fresh store soil (top soil, not pot soil) mixed with garden soil
    my chicken feces)
    my own urine
I just do'nt change the soil each year. I just top it up, that's the hugelkultur way. Also, since I grow veggies from it, I don't want chemicals in those, so absolutely no market nutrients, ever.

I made several batches this year.

early March (germinated 16 march): 4 GMO auto
    early April: 5 GMO auto
early may: 1 critical kush femzd
end of May: 3 critical kush femzd + 2 GMO autos

First batch : 6 GMO autos. 4 of which germinated on march the 16th. 2 didn't make it. reseeded with LSD autos, twice. didn't pan out.
    space: 60cm large 2.4m long 40cm height +60cmx60cmx40cm individual

  • The question is too broad so there is no one rule available. An almost endless list of hybrid auto strain, soil composition, latitude and climate are all going to give a unique answer. You are answering the important question. What is the best for your grow.

  • I usually drop autos in the greenhouse as soon as nights stay above 10°C, since they don’t care about daylight hours but do hate cold roots. Living soil warms up slower, so I preheat beds with a thick mulch layer. My own greenhouse setup from https://fullbloomlightdep.com/cannabis-greenhouses/ has spoiled me with steady temps, but your ACD should handle early spring fine if you keep airflow gentle and soil moisture steady.
