  • Maybe I’m overthinking it, but how do you handle hotels so that the kids can sleep safely? I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old who both have those gated floor beds with rails and the idea of them sleeping on a raised bed without rails terrifies me. I really want to take a little family vacation to a hotel in town but cannot wrap my head around how to do it so they can sleep and nap…any tips are appreciated!

  • In the past I check with the hotel if they have cribs available. When thay wasn't available I stuffed a pillow or two under the sheet to make a barrier on the edge of the bed.

  • I’ve brought baby gates before, but in hotels I usually shift furniture to block off corners and stick painter’s tape over plugs. A travel crib helps keep things contained, and I set up a little play zone with a blanket so I’m not chasing them all night. If you ever need accommodation near sydney airport, I’ve found some spots there have enough space to make this setup pretty easy.
