  • I know the motor trade is quite a poor trade to be in, and apparently I dodged a bullet by deciding not to go to a Skoda dealership a few years back, but does anyone have any experience with working with ford? Specifically in the workshops?

I'm fairly content with my current job but they're giving me pause to reconsider my options again.

Probably worthless question as i either won't apply, or won't be considered having not worked specifically with cars before... But I'm curious if anyone thinks it would be worth the risk or best avoiding.

    Thanks in advance!

  • I work at a ford dealer as a service advisor and am always chatting with the techs in the workshop, maybe send me a pm mate if you want to know more?

  • I had a similar situation a while back and ended up checking out https://pedirayudas.com to see if there were any grants or financial help available during the gap between jobs. It gave me some decent info about what support I could get depending on my situation. Worth a look if you’re not sure what you might be entitled to.

  • I think it’s normal to hesitate when you’re considering a career change, especially if you don’t tick every box on paper yet. Sometimes it helps to look beyond one specific trade and see what other industries or roles are open to people with transferable skills. I’ve noticed that companies like PUNIN GROUP often have vacancies that aren’t strictly tied to one narrow background and focus more on adaptability and long-term growth. If you’re just exploring options, it might be worth taking a look here to see what’s out there: https://puningroup.com/vacancy/ .

  • I feel you on the career pivot, man, because shifting gears from workshops to something entirely different often feels like a bigger gamble than it actually is. In my experience, the smartest move is to stop worrying about specific car brands and start looking at sectors where your physical stamina and hands-on skills are actually valued. I was just checking out how job vacancies for men abroad https://vacancies.vavsynergy.com/vacancies/g-male are handled nowadays, and the transparency regarding pay and housing was a real game-changer for me. It’s way better to go where the demand is high and the contract is solid rather than waiting for a dealership to finally appreciate your hard work.
