  • Hey,
Our company still uses IBM Lotus Notes, and recently we received a large list of contacts from external partners in vCard format. The problem is that Lotus Notes does not accept VCF files directly. When I try to import them, I either get errors or incomplete contacts where only names are visible. Manual entry is not possible because the list contains hundreds of contacts. Converting VCF to CSV did not help either, as Lotus Notes failed to map the fields correctly. These contacts are important for daily communication, so accuracy matters a lot. I need a reliable way to convert vCard contacts into NSF format without losing any important details.

  • Hey,
Lotus‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Notes operates on NSF format, which is different in structure from vCard files. This is the reason why a direct VCF import is most of the time unsuccessful or, in the case of incomplete contacts. The most secure way is to employ a vCard to NSF converter that can space the vCard fields to the Lotus Notes contact fields in a proper way. An efficient converter should:

Takes care of several VCF files

Keep phone numbers and email addresses unchanged

    Generate a Notes-compatible NSF file

I had a similar problem, and I found that DataVare vCard Export Import was the tool that accurately converted my vCard contacts to the NSF format. When I imported the NSF file into Lotus Notes all the contact details were there without any ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌mistakes.
