Skirting boards

Please show me yours! Looking for inspiration.

I see it's been a while since this was posted, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried painting the skirting boards with a gloss finish for easier cleaning? I'm redoing mine soon and can't decide between satin or gloss. Also curious if anyone has found a good way to hide small gaps between the boards and the wall without using caulk.
