  • Hey everyone! I’m finally redoing my kitchen after years of procrastinating 😅 I’ve decided on light oak cabinets and a quartz countertop, but I’m stuck with the wall design. Should I go for tiles all the way up, or maybe try textured wallpaper? Has anyone done wallpaper in the kitchen and not regretted it?

  • Hey , I actually did a kitchen remodel last year! Honestly, tiles are more practical — easier to clean, especially near the stove. But if you’re careful with moisture, modern wallpapers can hold up surprisingly well. You might want to check this out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interior_design — has a solid overview of materials and finishes that work in humid environments.

  • That’s helpful, thanks! I’m going for a cozy, Scandinavian vibe — light wood, white tones, warm lighting. I saw some photos on Pinterest with wallpaper that looked like brushed concrete, and it totally fooled me at first. Do you think something like that could still look classy after a few years, or would it age badly?

  • Totally depends on the quality of the wallpaper. The vinyl or washable types are really durable. I used a faux-brick one in my dining nook — still looks great after two years.
If you go that route, just make sure your wall is prepped properly. I learned the hard way that removing old paint layers can be a pain. I actually hired a small local crew for wallpaper removal in San Antonio https://bestwallpaperinstaller.com/locations/wallpaper-installer-san-antonio/ when I lived there — saved me days of scraping and cursing 😆

  • Haha, noted! I might end up doing the same if mine turns into a nightmare. Good tip on vinyl wallpaper — I didn’t realize they make washable types now. Maybe I’ll do tiles behind the stove and wallpaper on the rest of the wall.

  • That sounds like the perfect combo. Gives texture without losing practicality. Post some pics when it’s done — we love a good “before and after” here!

  • Hey there! Congrats on finally getting to your kitchen remodel — light oak cabinets and quartz countertops already sound like a beautiful combo.

As for the walls, I’ve actually tried both tiles and wallpaper, and to be honest, wallpaper can look amazing in a kitchen if you pick the right type. There are moisture-resistant peel-and-stick options that hold up surprisingly well, and they let you add texture or color without the cold feeling tiles sometimes give.

If you want something with personality that still matches the warmth of oak, check out this wallpaper for bar collection — it’s got some really elegant designs that also fit perfectly in kitchen spaces. I used a similar one behind my dining counter, and it completely changed the vibe!
