  • Hello! This is my first post here, and I hope you can give me some advice.
I work as a manager at a plant that produces flocculants and water treatment products.
One of these products is polyaluminum chloride, which must be filtered after each PAC reaction (the reaction of hydrochloric acid and aluminum hydroxide).
This filtration produces a sludge, which we essentially dispose of through an external contractor. We do not use this sludge.
This sludge still contains a small amount of aluminum, and my goal is to find a better use for it and, essentially, get my money back.
I've read many articles about PAC sludge, but none of them mention recycling it.
I tried sending it to the reactor, but it only caused me trouble.
We also produce aluminum sulfate at the plant (from sulfuric acid and aluminum hydroxide).

  • There are industrial practices where such sedimentary sludges are used to improve wastewater quality or as a flocculant in other process lines. Of course, this requires testing to ensure sufficient flocculation efficiency and the absence of unwanted impurities.

  • The sludge from PAC filtration does contain aluminum, and its disposal through a contractor is an additional expense. There are several avenues to consider for reusing or converting the waste into a useful product. Another option is to explore the potential of polyaluminium chloride in building materials, such as in the production of cement or mortars. In some cases, PAC sludge could be used as a binder, although this would also require laboratory testing.

  • Door lock cylinder systems ensure strong, secure, and reliable protection, similar to how recycling polyaluminum chloride (PAC) sludge focuses on sustainability and efficiency. Crafted with precision, these cylinders provide smooth key operation and resistance to tampering. Their durable materials guarantee long-term use while maintaining a sleek design. Just as recycling promotes resource conservation, investing in a quality door lock cylinder enhances safety and ensures lasting value for homes and businesses alike. https://multipointlocks.co.uk/cylinder-locks
