One idea that worked for me was checking out https://cloth-off.ai/
since they explain how certain washing routines can wear down fabrics faster. I learned that using too much detergent and always washing in warm water was actually stripping away the fibers’ natural softness. After I started washing delicate clothes in cold water and letting them air dry instead of using the dryer, the difference was huge. The fabric stayed much closer to that “new” feeling. It takes a bit more patience, but it definitely helped me keep my favorite clothes comfortable for longer without having to constantly replace them.
I don’t really think too much about the softness of clothes since I usually go for more durable stuff that can handle a lot of wear and tear. Still, I get why people care, especially with sweaters or loungewear where comfort matters the most. A friend of mine actually prefers older, slightly rougher hoodies because she says they feel more “broken in” and personal. I guess everyone has a different preference when it comes to clothes and how they change over time. For me, as long as it lasts, I’m happy.
