  • Hey everyone, I’ve been tasked with organizing our school’s upcoming field trip for about 60 students, and honestly, I’m a bit overwhelmed thinking about transportation. I know some schools just use multiple vans or let parents drive, but I’ve heard charter buses can be a lot easier and safer. Does anyone have experience with charter buses for school trips? Like, is it really worth it, and what should I be aware of before booking one?

  • Hi Marchelo, I’m chiming in from a charter bus company called Price 4 Limo,

Whether a charter bus is “worth it” really depends on your trip. For 60 students, the largest buses usually seat 56, so you’d need either two full-size buses or one 56-passenger bus plus a smaller minibus.

A couple of things to check:

Approved vendor list: Some schools can only book with pre-approved providers. If that’s the case, you’ll either need to pick from that list or go through the process of getting an outside company approved (often just submitting insurance and docs which is pretty easy).

Quoting: You can get a quote pretty easily by just getting together a rough itinerary with your pickup spot, destination(s), and times, then email the companies in your area.

That’s usually all it takes to start getting numbers back, and then you can weigh convenience vs. cost.
