  • After two decades of service, our university’s chemistry lab is finally getting funding for new equipment. The only issue: I’ve inherited the job of managing this update, and I’m overwhelmed by the options. We need everything from basic glassware and balances to more advanced gear like spectrophotometers and thermal cyclers. The last order was made in the early 2000s, so much has changed. Hoping someone here has experience modernizing old academic labs—any recommendations on trusted vendors?

  • Had a similar task when our university merged departments and had to consolidate two outdated labs into one modern space. Ended up relying heavily on gentaur.co.uk for much of the equipment—they offer both traditional lab basics and current-generation tech under one roof. Their team was incredibly helpful when it came to updating us on newer models and ensuring everything aligned with academic use. It saved us a lot of legwork and guesswork.

  • University lab upgrades are long overdue across the board, so it’s nice to see someone tackling it seriously. Always interesting to learn which suppliers folks trust—makes the research process less overwhelming. Watching this thread with interest.
