  • Installing your brand new premium MegaGrass artificial grass can be exciting! There is an indescribable and satisfying feeling at looking at a fresh, beautiful sea of green turf that you installed with your own two hands. Having said that, here are a few tips you can use as a guide to ensure a stress-free installation process.

    Double Check Your Measurements
Before placing an order for artificial grass, we highly recommend you double-check the measurements of your installation area. We cannot emphasize this enough. Measure your installation area at least twice, and from different directions. Make sure you’re getting the right amount of turf to cover your installation area. Doing so will ensure a smooth purchasing and installation process.

And if you're still not 100% sure about how much synthetic turf you'll need, feel free to contact us and someone from our team will be happy to help.

    The Right Base Material
Choosing your base material is also very important. The coarseness of the base rock determines the amount of drainage your new lawn will have, so choose a coarser material if you have drainage issues. Also, never use rounded rocks like pea gravel because they will slide around as you try to compact them. To learn more about

    Applying Base Material
Applying your base material is also a pivotal step that requires your full attention. The uneven base will cause bumps and/or wrinkles that will stand out. When removing your existing lawn, make sure to remove any rocks or roots that will cause an uneven surface. We recommend using a vibrating plate compactor or sod roller to compact your base. Don’t forget to create a 1 ½ inch incline, as this will help water to run off the surface.

    Blade Direction
The blades of grass in artificial turf have a natural direction or grain. It’s very important to be aware of this. You want to install the turf in the same direction to avoid obvious seams or visual differences in your lawn or installation area. For the best visual results, we recommend facing the grain towards the street in the front yard and towards the house in the backyard.

    Applying Weed Fabric
We recommend applying weed fabric underneath your base material to help prevent weeds from popping up in your new lawn. Sometimes weeds can grow in the infill, however; but don't worry, they can easily be removed.

VERY IMPORTANT! We do not recommend using a weed blocker under the turf if you have pets. Urine from your pets can absorb into the weed fabric and create a very unpleasant smell. Weed blocker can be installed in the area of application before adding the base if needed.
